According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, in August (2011), Vietnam imported 231 million U.S. dollars worth of textiles and leather raw materials for the month, which was 8.5% higher than the same period of last year.
Accumulated Vietnam imported 1.95 billion US dollars in textile and leather raw materials for the first eight months of the previous year, a 16.3% growth over the same period of last year, and accounted for 2.9% of the total amount of Vietnam's product imports in the previous eight months.
The main source of imported textile and leather raw materials for Vietnam in the first eight months of this year was mainland China, and the import amount was US$537.70 million, which was 27.7% higher than the same period of last year. And it accounted for 27.5% of the total amount of Vietnam's imported products in the previous eight months.
