Ben Wang, February 25th – Kei Kagami, a Japanese designer, once worked as an architect in Japan before making a bold career shift. He decided to leave the world of construction behind and enrolled at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London to pursue a Master’s in Fashion Design. His dedication paid off, as he graduated with first-class honors in 1991. Known for his fearless creativity and visionary approach, Kei Kagami is widely regarded as a pioneer who successfully merged architecture with fashion. His groundbreaking designs often challenge conventional ideas, pushing the boundaries of both disciplines.
One of his most famous creations is the "Rootless Shoes," which left many people astonished. These shoes defy traditional design norms, featuring no visible soles or structural support, yet they remain functional and visually striking. The concept itself is a statement—blurring the line between art and practicality. The radical aesthetic of these shoes not only shocked but also inspired many in the fashion world.
